All CollectionsGeneral QuestionsWhat does “Loss of sensor supervision mean”?
If you ever received a notification on your alarm system, indicating “loss of sensor  supervision" could mean a variety of things, but basically it means that the alarm system panel is unable to “see” (communicate) with a particular sensor. This could be for variety reasons, but typically one of the following three reasons:

  1. The battery for the sensor has completely died. This usually happens after the sensor has been communicating a low battery condition for sometime, but also can occur without prior notice if the battery simply died unexpectedly, which is rare, but possible.
  2. The sensor has physically left the home or business. It was installed debt. Now this one may sound silly. But we have had clients who had their windows or doors replaced and forgot to remove the sensors and the old window or door was taken away from the building, and hence, the panel couldn’t locate it.
  3. And finally, just like any other electronic device on the planet, certain things hit “end of life” and just simply die. You might’ve experienced this with a remote control for a TV, a cell phone or any other electronic device.
If you have received this notice, we can definitely help it with our team remotely troubleshooting it and we can come up with a solution to either fix or replace the sensor.
